Trespassers

Trespassers is an artist collective from Kerala, whose collaborative practice expands painting into a shared language of visual storytelling. Working cyclically, each member builds upon another’s image, creating layered, figurative dreamscapes where colour, scale, and detail collapse the boundaries between foreground and background. Their murals and canvases unfold like nonlinear narratives that are playful yet intricate, shaped by the perspectives and imaginations of many voices.

Rooted in public art, Trespassers bring their works into everyday spaces, embedding images drawn from memory, folklore, and lived experience into the collective imagination of their audiences. Boats, landscapes, and symbols of Kerala’s cultural heritage often resurface in their works, offering a sense of nostalgia for a disappearing past. In their practice, the act of mural making becomes a collaborative encounter—with each other, with the public, and with the spaces they inhabit.
