Harsimran Juneja (b. 1995) is a self-taught artist based in Ahmedabad whose work explores the contradictions of contemporary society through an unflinching, layered visual language. Drawing from personal experiences and sociopolitical conflict, he crafts expressive, text-infused paintings and drawings that grapple with binaries of self and society, politics and culture, desire and disillusionment. His work, often raw and immediate, channels personal inquiry into broader societal critiques, making visible the tensions that lie beneath the surface of everyday life.
Juneja holds an MA in Design Management and Cultures from the University of the Arts London (LCC) and is the co-founder and director of Uno Lona, an art and design education academy. His practice merges painting with conceptual forms, incorporating found objects, digital media, and text to interrogate systems of control, identity, and perception. Influenced by Neo-Expressionism, primitivism, and street graffiti, his evolving body of work operates in the blurred space between narrative and abstraction. Whether intimate or political, each piece becomes a point of self-reflection and collective confrontation, which the artist refers to as a form of “looping” toward resolution.
His work has been widely exhibited in India and internationally across both physical and virtual platforms. Notable solo exhibitions include Moo Point at Pulp Society, Delhi (2022); b/w desire and reality with Terrain.art (2022); and Memoirs at Gallery Mui, USA (2022). He has participated in group shows at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery (USA), Apparao Galleries (Chennai), ArtBuzz Studios (Delhi), and the India Art Fair with Kafe Cerrado and Terrain.art. Virtual exhibitions include presentations with Visionary Art Collective (USA), The Holy Art (London), and Edgeland Modern (UK). His work has been featured in publications such as Architectural Digest India, Art Seen, and OptWest, and he has received recognition from India Art Fair, ArtBuzz Studios, and the Contemporary Art Chronicle.
