Vagamon Art Residency

The Vagamon Art Residency by Muziris Contemporary's sister foundation, Palette People International Art Foundation, which has hosted residencies for artists from across the world over the last 15 years. Palette People International Art Foundation is a registered charitable organization functioning in the state of Kerala in India.  Our residency, situated in the ecologically protected rural area of the western ghats of Kerala, has been fostering emerging local artists and students often from the underrepresented and economically disadvantaged and connecting them with international artists through a sponsored residency program to facilitate artistic learning, cultural exchange and exposure.

The foundation collaborates with organisations like the Kochi-Biennale Foundation for Post-Graduate Indian Artist Residencies. It also offers financial support for artists in need like the Covid Support Grant offered to 45 local artists who depended on their practice for their family’s livelihood.

    Our Story

Since 1991, Palette People International Art Foundation has offered residencies, workshops, and exhibition opportunities to artists from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, helping them overcome barriers. During its launch, the foundations efforts were for increasing opportunities for artists to display art in the state of Kerala through private exhibitions of contemporary art, which was otherwise not in existence at the time, and increased discourse of contemporary art and its appreciation.
