Apurba Nandi (b. 1973, Vadodara, Gujarat) is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice is rooted in sculpture and painting. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture in 1998 and his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture in 2000 from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. Since then, Nandi has developed a sustained artistic practice that explores human presence, social structures, and the rhythms of urban life.
Nandi has exhibited widely across India and internationally, with shows in cities including Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Kochi, Baroda, New Delhi, and England. His work has been presented at prominent venues such as Latitude 28, New Delhi; Aakriti Art Gallery, Kolkata; and the 9th Harmony Show, Mumbai. In recognition of his artistic contribution, he was awarded a Grant of Scholarship by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 2006.
Through his work, Nandi often reflects on collective movement, anonymity, and the subtle patterns that emerge within social and urban environments, translating everyday observation into layered visual forms.
